I am an associate professor and chair of the Mass Communications and Journalism Department at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. Over the past 30 years, I have taught courses at universities in Ohio, Washington, DC, New Mexico, New Jersey, Virginia and in the People's Republic of China. As for research, in the past, I have published on the following topics: international sojourning, intercultural relations, agenda-setting, international communication, development communication and media criticism. Currently, I'm working on a variety of research projects. My current research areas topics include transmedia narratology (adaptation), media argumentation, video games, interactive fiction, social media and race in film and television (read more about my research).
